Counselling is a brief treatment that would normally last for 6 – 8 weekly sessions, sometimes less, sometimes more, all dependent on the individual. These sessions would focus on the issues that the individual is currently concerned with, i.e. Work-related stress, Career Support, Family & Marital issues, Health concerns, Loss & Bereavement.
Psychotherapy is generally a longer treatment process than Counselling, and focuses on deeper-rooted problems. The current day to day effects that the individual may be experiencing, such as Anxiety, Confusion, Depression, Loneliness, Low self-confidence, Low self-esteem, Stress, Trauma etc, are often the result of something that may of occurred in the past, quite often many years ago.
