What is the difference between Counselling & Psychotherapy ?

Counselling is a brief treatment that would normally last for 6 – 8 weekly sessions, sometimes less, sometimes more, all dependent on the individual. These sessions would focus on the issues that the individual is currently concerned with, i.e. Work-related stress, Career Support, Family & Marital issues, Health concerns, Loss & Bereavement.

Psychotherapy is generally a longer treatment process than Counselling, and focuses on deeper-rooted problems. The current day to day effects that the individual may be experiencing, such as Anxiety, Confusion, Depression, Loneliness, Low self-confidence, Low self-esteem, Stress, Trauma etc, are often the result of something that may of occurred in the past, quite often many years ago.

MHL Counselling, offers a supportive and considerate approach to each and every client. Firstly you will need to book an initial consultation, which will last about 50 minutes. This gives us a starting point to work out which avenue of therapy is best suited to you and the concerns that you have. After this MHL, will arrange for a convenient time for your first therapy session, where upon the process of gaining insight and resolving your problems can begin and continue on a weekly basis.
